Interview with Dr. Yaron Brook of the Ayn Rand Institute

For the official launch of "In the Spotlight with Orit Arfa", I interviewed Dr. Yaron Brook, President and Executive Director of the Ayn Rand Insitute, an Irvine-based institute dedicated to spreading the philosophy and works of Ayn Rand, the Russian-Jewish emigre to the US who rose to literary stardom with what are now American classics, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged.

In the interview, we talk about Brook's background as an Israeli coming to embrace Ayn Rand's ideas; the application of her philosophy-Objectivism--to Israel; Ayn Rand's view on religion; and, of course, the benevolence of Britney Spears.

Bonnie,
I like your thoughts on the timing of the Jewish new year, which is very much in tune with the end of the summer, start of a new season and the beginning of the school/fiscal year. Jewish calendar is also in tune with agricultural cycles, as Jewish holidays were partly based on the planting of yielding of crops, so they got Jews in tune with the environment and our productivity.
About Britney, she recently tweeted she's coming out with a monstrous single. I believe her spirit is strong enough to bounce back.

I think Brittany destroyed herself. Was young and in over her head. But she also managed to turn it around, and this year earned more than Lady Gaga!!!

The Palestinians do not want "peace". I agree they were humiliated by their defeat, and now want only to destroy Israel. Jordan, Lebanon refuse to allow the Palestinians amongst them to integrate into their society. rather they force them to live in seclusion,
so they will suffer. They use them as a tool to justify their wrongful fight.

Concerning the Jewish new year:
U.S. government's fiscal year begins on October 1
Schools reopen Sep-Oct.
Basically its the Christian new year, that makes no real sense. Stuck in the middle of the year...

Good interview! Real shame it was corrupted (actually it seems it is simultaneously playing two copies of the recording which are out of synch) but as you wrote above, one can still make out the content.

Thanks for the feedback. I know, it's a pain and not sure what happened there. I'll work on a transcript since it is a worthwhile interview.

It is very unfortunate that the recording got corrupted. It was disappointing and not a worthwhile interview because of it. I hope you can find a way to fix it or provide a transcript so that the content can be understood without strain.
